Kenneth talks about how holidays form in this TED Talk, especially how many holidays in the United States form for political reasons, such as Labor Day. Labor day comes from demands for fair wages and fair working hours, and stems from the previous International Workers Day, and later became a federal holiday. This provides context to the original intentions of some holidays, and that most holidays have a reason for forming and that holidays change over time.

In this video Professor Simangaliso Kumalo, talks about the commercialization of Easter, especially in relations of the sub-tradition of Lent. He considers the commercialization of Easter to be a benefit to society, as it helps to boost the economy and helps businesses to thrive. He also relates it to religion, citing the commercialization as an incentive to make younger people attend church. This helps support the idea that commercialization does affect holidays globally, by showing how it has affected Easter in South African culture, and how it helps the economy and the religion.
